District Reflections Winner
Congratulations to Isaac Fenn. His original piano composition, “Melody in ‘G’ Major,” won at the district- level Reflections contest. With a smile, Isaac said of his experience, “I had fun creating a song and winning.”
Valentine's Day Activities
Students enjoyed exchanging Valentine's cards and treats with each other on February 14. Each student was asked to decorate a Valentine box. The boxes were decorated according to the curriculum theme of the grade level as follows: Kindergarten – Nursery Rhymes, First Grade- “I Love Reading,” Second Grade - “Love Bugs” - Insects, Third Grade - “All About Me,” Fourth Grade - “I Love Utah,” Fifth Grade - “I Love America” – States, Sixth Grade- “I Love Europe,” or they could use a general Valentine theme!

2012 Science Fair Winners!
Congratulations to the winners of the East Meadows Science Fair! This years science fair winners are back row: Brenden Bakker, Kolton McMillan, Taelyr Skollingsberg, Katelynn Smith and Alex Woidka. Front row: Breanna Winkel, Emily Colton, Andy Lukins, James Mills, Jaxon Judd, Daniel Searcy and Jackson Jensen. The district Science Fair will be on February, 22 at Landmark High School. We want to wish all our winners the best of luck at district.
Science Fair
On February 8, 2012 it was all about science at East Meadows. Fifth and sixth-grade students have been working hard on various hypotheses, testing and data. Family members and younger students walked through classrooms and viewed the various displays depicting the hard work of the young scientists during the Science Fair. East Meadows congratulates all participants on their efforts.
100 Days of School
Tuesday January 31, 2012 marked the 100th day of school at East Meadows Elementary. The first grade students celebrated by doing a variety of activities. They wrote stories, counted to 100, made graphs and charts in math and even made glasses out of the number 100. Several of the other grades also participated by doing grade level activities.
1st Grade Winnie the Pooh Day
First-grade students celebrated Winnie the Pooh day at school. They enjoyed bringing Winnie, Eeyore, Tigger and other stuffed animals to school. Students were able to appreciate the imaginary world of
Christopher Robin as they made puppets and listened to A. A. Milne’s wonderful stories.
BYU Sports Hero Day
East Meadows 6th-grade students participated in activities with athletes from Brigham Young University (BYU) for Sports Hero Day. Among many athletes, students got to meet Riley Nelson, James Clark and Charles Abuou. The athletes talked to them about important life skills such as: listen to parents, surround yourself with greatness, have good sportsmanship, and be a leader. The students saw some awesome diving and had fun doing several relay games. East Meadows wishes to thank BYU for inviting them to attend Sports Hero Day.
