Thank you East Meadows and the many wonderful volunteers, students and parents for making our "All-Star Hall of Fame" Teacher Appreciation Week so much fun. We have fantastic teachers and staff and love to show them how much we appreciate them. The students had fun seeing their teachers in the "Hall of Fame" and watching a Kickoff video, and joining in as we all wore our favorite sports team jerseys. We hope our teachers had a fun week and know that we think they are truly "All-Stars"!
Central Bank taught the fourth grade about the in's and out's of banking today. They learned about Saving's Accounts, Checking Accounts, Loans, Mortgages and Deposits. They completed a goal sheet as if they wanted to earn money for a particular item and how they could earn and pay for it. Thank you Mrs. Fry and Mrs. Hardy from Central Bank!
The first grade students visited the Spanish Fork Fire Station, the Spanish Fork Police Station, Cal-Ranch store and Costco on Friday, April 17 for their spring field trip. The fire station was a favorite. They saw baby bunnies, chicks and ducks at Cal-Ranch. The ate a picnic lunch at North Park. Costco gave them ice cream while visiting their store. Thank you to all the parent volunteers that attended and helped out.
Students & Parents, join the fun in celebrating our All-Star Teachers & Staff this week! On Wednesday, we ask that the students wear their favorite team colors, jersey or logo to join in the All-Star fun!
The third grade students became little entrepreneurs on April 3, 2014 for their 3rd Grade Market. They had the opportunity to learn a little about commerce. They have been earning and saving “play” money for good classroom behavior. All the students offered some sort of goods or service. Some of the items for sale were: food, small trinkets and toys and an assortment of games to play, some even offered fingernail painting. They each got to take the money they have earned and spend it anyway they want. It was a fun and educational experie
Our National Elementary Honor Society helped to fill Easter Eggs for Spanish Fork's annual Easter Egg hunt the week before spring break. Sorry for posting late but wanted to acknowledge their service.
Our second graders visited Harward Farms in Springville for their spring field trip. Farm Field Days is sponsored by the Utah County Farm Bureau and allows children to see how a farm works and to learn about different things in agriculture. There are different stations that the kids go too. They go to stations about sheep growers, beef growers, pork growers, bee farmers, a petting zoo, mink growers, hand sanitation, dairy farms, chicken farms, farm safety, etc. It allows children to see where food and other household items come from.
Congratulations to all our students who participated in the Champions Challenge Reading challenge. Wayne Andersen visited our school and helped draw a winner from each grade. These students each win 2 tickets to the Champions Challenge Rodeo on May 30, 2015 here in Spanish Fork.
The students had a fun assembly today learning about chemistry. Four students from Utah Valley University demonstrated the science projects. The students witnessed a cola fountain when mentos where added to a cola. They learned about how fireworks work. They watched a stalagmite form. The finale was watching the helium balloons blow up. Thank you UVU for a explosive assembly.
