Generalization Ideas

Use these activites to help your student apply what they learn in speech into all environments.

  • Have your student read out-loud focusing on correct productions of their target speech sound.

  • Play a game (cards, board games, I-Spy, etc.) and have your student focus on correct productions of their target speech sounds while talking.

  • Timings:

Words: Choose 10 words and see how many times they can say them in the timed period (30 seconds, 1 min)

Sentences: Choose 10 words and see how fast you can put each one in a sentence.

  • Tongue Twisters

  • Have a designated time (i.e dinner time, while driving in the car, while folding clothes etc.) that you focus on using your good speech sounds when talking.
