Someone once said, “A woman is like a tea bag you can’t tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water.”
Well I assure you, my esteemed colleagues, that the woman we are honoring here today, Mrs. Diane Martin, is stronger than any Earl Grey in existence. I realized this from the very first moments I stepped foot into my classroom here at East Meadows nearly five years ago. There wasn’t a day in the week back then that we weren’t in hot water in some form or another.

1. I have 2 children and 3 grandchildren.
2. I love and appreciate all kinds of music. One of my favorite things to do is to go see live music being played. A
typical vacation for me includes some type of concert somewhere.
3. I also love to spend time in nature, especially the mountains since they are so close. I love to camp and go
hiking. I also love the ocean and would love to spend more time on a beach but they are not as easily accessible as the mountains.
East Meadows students were honored in our Good As Gold award assembly for April. The Heave Ho Award that honored students that pushed through a tough obstacle. The Jolly Roger Award recognized students with a good attitude. Students that were given the Ahoy Matey Award were caught being a good friend. We also had the Shipshape Award for those that were caught helping around the school or were picking up in their classroom. The Shiver Me Timbers Award was for students that had done something truly amazing.
We want to congratulate Lori Kofoed, a 1st grade teacher at East Meadows on receiving "Teacher of the Year" for East Meadows!

Parents-
For the Counselor message this month I found this great clip about Resilience in our children. It's pretty short, but I found it to be really insightful. Enjoy!-Ms. B (Aubree Bushman)
