The Odyssey!

Once again the 6th grade students at East Meadows Elementary performed skits as part of the play “The Odyssey.”   A poem written by Homer in approximately 700 B.C.  The sixth-graders have been learning about Greek culture and history.  Each class performed one of the scenes from the play.  The Odyssey tells of Odysseus’ travels back to his kingdom Ithaca after the Trojan War.  It took him ten years to find his way back and he experienced many adventures along the way.  The students made their own props, scenery and costumes.  Good job sixth-grade students.  They also were able to participate in many Greek Olympic type activities that afternoon.
