The second grade students at East Meadows Elementary loaded the buses on Thursday, October 4 and headed to the North County Equestrian Park in Lehi and Harward Farms.  They participated in various activities while there.  They watched a sheep shearing demonstration by County Extension Agent Jim Jensen.  They learned about the important role agriculture has in their daily lives.  Local farmers, ranchers and fruit growers taught them that many things they use every day come from products like animals, orchards and gardens.  They were taught about good nutrition and ha

The week of Oct 1-5 was Ribbon Week at East Meadows Elementary.  Each day the students received a yarn bracelet representing the color and theme for that day.  At the end of the week a prize was awarded to the class you had the most bracelets left.

The Student Council accepted a check from Macey’s in the amount of $209.00.  This money was donated through the Macey’s School Cents program.  All those receipts that families turn in really do pay off.  The more receipts our school collects the larger the donation.  Macey’s donates over $20,000 to local schools.   There is a collection box located inside the school by the front office.  Thank You Macey's!!

East Meadows students and staff have selected their student council for the 2012-2013 school year.  Responsibilities of the student council are to do morning announcements, help with school activities, help  with service projects, run the school store and be good examples to all the other students.  Congratulations to this year's student council!

We love having 4-H Afterschool here at East Meadows Elementary.  This year’s format is a little different than the previous years.  We will have 4 sessions.  Session A is well underway and will finish up the week of Oct 8.  Session A Clubs consist of Fairly Odd Tales, Get Up & Move, Kung Fu Panda Camp, Art Smarts, Arts & Crafts, Jump Rope, Indoor & Outdoor Games, Dance and Basketball.  Session B will begin on October 15.  Session B Clubs are the Communication Club, Scientists Gone Mad, Homework Helps & Math Games, Dance, Drama, Arts & Crafts

Once again the 6th grade students at East Meadows Elementary performed skits as part of the play “The Odyssey.”   A poem written by Homer in approximately 700 B.C.

Our 4th Grade students had the opportunity to explore Camp Floyd on their field trip on September 14, 2012.  They were able to participate in interactive, hands-on experiences as they engaged in the activities of a soldier at Camp Floyd in 1861.

ARGH! First grade pirates found themselves marooned on the East Meadows Isle on September 13,2012. These little buccaneers found themselves learning about literacy and math through fun pirate activities.  By the end of the day they learned, “There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.”  Thank ye first-grade teachers for making learning fun and exciting for our students.

Fifth graders at East Meadows celebrated Colonial Day today. Students learned about what it would have been like to live in colonial days through active participation in a variety of activities. They wrote with feathers, made a horn book, a quilt block and a colonial sign. They dipped candle wicks, cleaned cotton and played a game called “ball and stick.”

This year’s Mustang Week was centered around our ‘Super Hero School’ theme.  The week started off on Tuesday as students participated in an art project.   Wednesday was the Corbin White Game Show Assembly, ‘Learning is a Super Power! Challenge’.  This academic assembly stresses the importance of teamwork, self-esteem, and knowledge in a fun and creative way.  Students are required to think during this assembly.  They were asked questions from English, Math, Social Studies and Science.
