4th Grade Enjoys Camp Floyd!

Submitted by trisha.olsen on

The fourth grade students enjoyed their annual field to Camp Floyd. The United States Army, Mormon Pioneers, Stagecoach Travelers, and the Pony Express met at Camp Floyd and the town of Fairfield. The Army arrived in 1858 and constructed Camp Floyd to suppress a supposed Mormon rebellion. The Army remained here for three years before being recalled for the Civil War. Today, Camp Floyd State Park features three structures and a cemetery.  The fouth grade students got to go back in time to the 1860's and experience what life was like back then.

3rd Grade Field Trip to Salem Pond

Submitted by trisha.olsen on

Third graders went on their annual trip to Salem Pond to explore the wetlands ecosystem. We got to take different water samples to study, observe the marsh, create a model habitat, and see what water does to a feather. We also had the privilege of learning about pollution from Mr. Hogle. Thanks so much to all our volunteers for helping us!

5th Grade Colonial Days

Submitted by trisha.olsen on

Fifth graders at East Meadows celebrated Colonial Day today. Students learned about what it would have been like to live in colonial days through active participation in a variety of activities. They wrote with feathers, made a horn book, a quilt block and a colonial sign. They dipped candle wicks, cleaned cotton and played a game called “ball and stick.”

Kindergarten

I'm so excited kindergarten is here,
I know it will be a great year.
I'm a big kid now and I'm on my way,
To board the bus for my very first day.

My teachers are there waiting for me,
Right at the door is where they will be.
I'll make lots of friends and have some fun,
And before you know it, the day will be done.

The first day of Kindergarten was Tuesday, August 26, 2014.  We are excited to Welcome these new students to East Meadows!

Changes in the Air!

As many have already heard, our Principal, Mr. Dwight Liddiard, has been re-assigned to be the new Principal at Spanish Fork Jr. High School starting next school year. We want to thank him for his dedication to the students, staff and PTA at East Meadows and for helping it from its beginnings in 2006 to become the special place it is today.

We want to give a warm welcome to Celeste Gledhill who will be the new Principal of East Meadows starting in August 2014.

With that, here is a little introduction from Celeste Gledhill herself....

Oh, the things you will learn

"Oh, the things you will learn"--Dr. Seuss--THANKS  MR. LIDDIARD!  WE WILL MISS YOU!!

The years have flown by and what a wonderful journey we've had
To see you leave the EM we sure will be sad
You've been a great leader and mentor and pushed us to do the same.
The title "Mr. Liddiard" means much more than a name.
A place has been created and people want to come,
It does not really matter where they are from.
There have been weddings to babies, there have been sad funerals too,
We've lost some great freiends from the East Meadows crew.
