Ballet West Dance Academy teachers and dancers have been working with our 5th grade inspiring them that they CAN Dance.  This workshop gives children the opportunity to experience dance first-hand.  They taught them the importance of stretching out before and keeping our bodies healthy and strong.  Ballet West offers this workshop to many schools across the Wasatch Front.  Today in our assembly the instructor congratulated our school for being one of the most respectful schools they have attended.  The 5th grade students performed the dance they learned today

5th Grade States Fair

The 5th grade students showed off their knowledge today on the 50 states.  As part of the 5th grade curriculum they have learned about the states and memorized the 50 state capitols this year.  Each student learned about a state they were interested in.  They researched and found an interesting question about that state and made a diorama highlighting the question.  The states fair is a fun event to showcase what the students have learned.

The Bean Museum at Brigham Young University brought their reptile show to the 2nd graders at East Meadows.  The 2nd grade students have been learning about different types of animals.  The museum brought a turtle, a lizard, and a snake, named cuddles.  The presenter talked about the characteristics of reptiles.  The students learned about different habitats and dangers of these kinds of animals.   They even learned that when a reptile sticks out its tongue it is really smelling what is around it.
