Thank you to all of our amazing STAR Reading Volunteers!

For the past two years we have had some wonderful members of our community come to the school and volunteer to read with students who are struggling to read for 30 minutes, twice a week. Over the past two school years we have been able to help 25 struggling readers in the 2nd and 3rd grade reach grade level. We have tutors like Bill and Shelly who have been tutoring students for the past two years. We have tutors like Kathy, Jake, and VerLyn who come in twice a week for an hour to read with two different students. We have volunteers like Jeanette who comes in once a week for two hours and works with four different students. We have volunteers like Emily and Heather who come in once a week for an hour to tutor. We have wonderful substitute tutors who are willing to come in at the last minute as we need them.

We would love to continue to expand the program to be able to reach more students, especially in the second and fourth grade, who are struggling with reading. This is a great opportunity to help out the children in our community. If you or anyone you know is interested in reading with these students, please contact the school. We love the support we receive from parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and community members. we are also so proud of our students who have been working hard to get on grade level.
