King Arthur Life Skills Bread Baking Assembly

Submitted by trisha.olsen on

King Arthur Flour, America’s oldest flour company, came to East Meadows Elementary to teach students how to bake fresh, nutritious bread from scratch as part of their Life Skills Bread Baking Program. The East Meadows National Honor Society hosted the assembly for 4th, 5th, and 6th-grade students. Students learned about whole grains and how to incorporate them into their diet. King Arthur Flour sent home enough ingredients with each student to make 2 loaves of nutritious bread—one to enjoy at home, the other to share with a person of their choice. The bread-baking activity provided students a hands-on approach for learning math, science, reading, following directions, problem solving and sharing with the community while having fun.
