The week of Oct 1-5 was Ribbon Week at East Meadows Elementary. Each day the students received a yarn bracelet representing the color and theme for that day. At the end of the week a prize was awarded to the class you had the most bracelets left. Monday kicked off Red Ribbon Day with everyone wearing red and pledging to be drug free. Each class was given a red poster that read “The Best ME is Drug Free.” Every student in the school signed the poster and displayed them in the hallways. Tuesday was “Turn off the TV and Talk” day. The halls and classrooms were filled with bright, cheery students as they wore yellow this day. They were asked to turn off the TV and turn on life. They were encouraged to participate in a fun family activity. Wednesday was “Green Means Go Safely.” It was also National Walk to School Day. The students practiced safe walking routes and when they arrived at school they were greeted by the Spanish Fork High School Football Team and Cheerleaders passing out a prize. Green was the color worn for safety on this day. “I’ve Got the Power,” was the theme on Thursday. Students wore white to school and were asked to talk with their families about internet safety and setting family guidelines for media use. Lastly, “Stand UP & Speak Out” was our Friday theme. This day students wore purple. They were taught to use courage, confidence, and character as they stand up for values and speak out against bullies. There will be a Snap, Walk ‘n Roll Assembly on November 29. SNAP, Walk 'n Roll is an assembly about walking and biking safely to school, produced by the Utah Department of Transportation Student Neighborhood Access Program (SNAP) ™. We look forward to their presentation. Thank you to all the students, faculty and staff, parents and PTA for a fun filled week!
