Sub-Zero Science Assembly

Sub-Zero Ice cream and yogurt combine science and ice cream to create a wonderful scientific experiment that tastes good. They came to East Meadows Elementary to present an assembly for us in conjunction with the Science Fair. Using liquid nitrogen at -321 Fahrenheit they can make a custom made ice cream just for you in seconds. They discussed the elemental properties of nitrogen, gas laws and the Leidenfrost Effect and the application of science to food. The students had a great time learning and watching as they were sprayed with non-toxic nitrogen smoke. They watched a blown-up balloon deflate in the nitrogen substance only to inflate again as it warmed up. Some of the classes benefited by tasting the scientific goodness of the ice cream. We want to thank Sub-Zero for a wonderful assembly.
