MR. DUNCAN'S MESSAGE

Once again, I just feel the need to say THANK YOU!!! During these challenging times, we have been humbled by the support of the East Meadows community. From our AMAZING PTA that has donated masks for kids to parents that have brought in treats for our staff to KIND students that are just so grateful to be at school (even with masks on), we truly have something extra special at East Meadows!! I cannot thank all of you enough for your willingness to support the school in whatever way possible. I witnessed first hand the support for EM at Zupa's Night!!! It was so neat to see so many Mustang families there enjoying each other. Zupa's was SO BUSY and it was because of so many of you! Please know that the support has been felt and our teachers and staff appreciate it more than you know!! Many have asked me how the teachers are doing. They are doing well! It has been challenging but they are so happy to have kids in their classrooms 5 DAYS A WEEK!! I am so proud of Nebo School District for making this a priority! We are STRONGER when we are TOGETHER! Thank You to the entire East Meadows Family for making this school year a success.

COVID INFORMATION

THANK YOU PARENTS and STUDENTS!!! We are doing so well at East Meadows! Our students are wearing masks, sanitizing and social distancing when possible. While things are different and not ideal, we are all so happy that kids are at school and learning!!

We want to keep students in school. In order to do this, we ask that you continue to do your part to screen your children before sending them to school each day. With cold and flu season coming quickly, we need to be very diligent in following these guidelines. If your child has any of the following symptoms you need to keep them home. These guidelines are from the Health Department and we are obligated to follow them.

  • Fever of 100.4 or greater
  • Chills
  • Cough
  • Runny nose or congestion
  • Sore throat
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Headache
  • Diarrhea
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Muscle and body aches
  • Recent loss of taste or smell

If your child has experienced any of these symptoms in the last 48 hours please do not send him/her to school.

REMOTE TO AT-SCHOOL OR VICE VERSA- WINDOW IS NOW OPEN

On October 5th, you should have received an email letting you know how to change from remote learning to face-to-face learning, or vice versa. This is a friendly reminder that you have until the end of the day on October 20, 2020 to make this change. If you would like to make a change and haven’t already done so, click on THIS LINK to submit your decision.

If you would like to stay with your current choice, you do not need to do anything.

HALLOWEEN

Halloween falls on Saturday, Oct. 31 and there is no school on Friday, Oct. 30. Therefore, Halloween WILL be celebrated on Thursday, Oct. 29 at East Meadows!! When one of our second grade students found out that he still gets to dress up for Halloween at school, he said "That is SUPER RAD Mr. Duncan!" We are so excited to see the students' costumes and to let them have some fun! There will be a couple of changes from previous years. Unfortunately, we will NOT be able to invite parents to our parade. However, we will be broadcasting it live beginning at 1:00. We will send out the link in the near future. Also, we are only allowed to have 1 parent volunteer in each classroom to assist with class parties. We are attempting to keep all Halloween activities after lunch. Thank you for understanding! We know that everyone loves the Halloween Parade and we hope that we can be back to normal next school year! For now, we are trying to keep everyone healthy and safe. All Nebo elementary schools are following the same guidelines. Image removed. Image removed. Image removed.

EAST MEADOWS PTA

The PTA would like to thank everyone who supported our Online Silent Auction Fundraiser and the Zupas Spirit Night! Combined we were able to raise about $4,800. This goes towards programs, events and donations that directly benefit our students and teachers. We truly are stronger together.

So far this year, the PTA was able to run a fabulous Reflections program, process orders and deliver spirit wear, make supply donations to the school, and run a Box Tops drive to earn money directly for our school (don’t forget to also use the app!).

This month we will be providing dinner for teacher’s during SEP’s, hosting an online Book Fair (Oct 19-23) and running Red Ribbon Week (Oct 26-29).

As you can see the PTA has A LOT of opportunities for parents to support the students, teachers, and school- even from home! And we need you! If you are able and willing to try something new and help in any way with future events, please let us know!

The PTA has a “General Volunteer” email list. There is no commitment! When there is a need (supply/food donation, making a poster, helping on a committee, etc.) an email is sent out asking for help with that specific need. If you are able to help, you can reply to the email. If you’re not available, no worries, we’ll catch you next time. To be added to the list email eastmeadowspta [at] gmail.com (eastmeadowspta[at]gmail[dot]com).

If you can’t volunteer but want to stay informed, please join our Facebook Group (East Meadows Elementary PTA) and/or follow us on Instagram (@Eastmeadowspta). You can also go to the PTA tab on the school website for more information.

Thank you parents!! We couldn’t do it without you!
